In 1994 when the SS Jeremiah O’Brien was returning from Normandy, the ship received an unofficial mascot, Bruce the Raven. Bruce was a well known comic strip character featured in the San Francisco Chronicle. Comic strips featuring Bruce and the SS Jeremiah O’Brien were featured regularly in the Chronicle during the trip. So Bruce became the unofficial mascot and was painted up on our crow’s nest! This 3″ round magnet features Bruce on an orange background. The image of Bruce along with “SS Jeremiah O’Brien San Francisco, CA” is on the front.
